The University Clinical Center in Gdansk, the Regional Hospital in Kielce and the University Hospital in Krakow are the three facilities with the highest number of organ donations in 2023, according to the Poltransplant Information Bulletin. The largest increase in donation activity is recorded by the Kielce hospital.
In 2023, the Poltransplant Coordination Office handled 756 applications of potential deceased organ donors. There were 116 more than in the previous year and 200 more than in 2021. Organ donation occurred in 74 percent of the cases.
Potential donors were reported from 148 medical entities in the country. There were 6 more than in the previous year. The number of the most active hospitals from which 10 or more actual organ donors were reported was 17.
