The automatic barrier pneumatic tent is the work of scientists from several universities, with the leading role of the Silesian Medical University. It is an innovative solution that makes it possible to effectively isolate medical personnel from an infectious patient. - Thanks to this, medics can perform various ordered examinations or operations, e.g. gastroscopy, intubation, without worrying about the possibility of getting infected, " explains Prof. Szymon Skoczynski, head of the Department of Lung Diseases and Tuberculosis of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at SUM in Zabrze.
The tent is a mobile, quickly installed structure, using methods that allow it to be stiffened instantly. The system includes special barriers and materials to ensure that the indoor environment is isolated from the outside.
