In the Department of General and Transplant Surgery at the Infant Jesus Clinical Hospital UCK WUM, on March 23, 2023, a team led by Professor Wojciech Lisik performed the first documented laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy in a liver transplant patient in Poland.
The patient suffered from autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), which eventually caused the failure of this organ, leading to the need for transplantation, which took place in September 2009 at the same Clinic.
